We will be holding a Book Week Scotland event on Monday 24th November 2014 in the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, 232-242 St Vincent Street, Glasgow G2 5RJ when Dr Patricia Andrew will be speaking about aspects of her recently published book A Chasm in Time: Scottish War Art and Artists in the Twentieth Century. This is the first book on Scottish war art and artists of the twentieth century and provides a fascinating visual record of Scotland’s experience of conflict, both on the ‘home front’ and in theatres of war.
Patricia Andrew is a freelance museum consultant, researcher and lecturer, and was formerly Assistant Director at the Scottish Museums Council. During her talk she will be paying special reference to the College’s painting by Hugh Adam Crawford, Homage to Clydebank: The Stretcher Bearers (1941). Details about this work are available on the College website and also on the BBC Your Paintings website. The painting is sited near the reception at the College and can be viewed on a drop-in basis on Monday afternoons (apart from public holidays) between 2.00 pm and 5.00 pm.
The talk will start at 7.00 pm with drinks and refreshments from 6.30 pm. If you would like to attend then please email: library@rcpsg.ac.uk
The event is free and open to all and we look forward to welcoming you in the College for what promises to be a fascinating evening.
